Personality Assessment: A Key Component in Career Development
Educational institutions and employers provide the skills and job knowledge that people need to perform well at work. But that is not enough to ensure the level of job satisfaction that drives performance and personal fulfillment. True satisfaction is achieved only when people select and work in occupations that fit their core personality. This is true even in the best of times, but in the current economic climate, career decision-making is even more critical and complex, demanding special attention to career planning, enrichment, and transition considerations.
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for Career and Student Counselors; School Administrators; Consultants; Psychologists; and Placement Professionals who desire an increased level of proficiency in assessing the personality factors that facilitate career decisions such as personal strengths and limitations, areas of interest, and more.
Learning Objectives
This workshop explores how the 16PF® Questionnaire and its career-focused reports can be used to make both broad career field and specific occupation recommendations based upon personality traits. Where significant career change is not an option, 16PF developmental reports can be used to identify an individual's personality "challenges" and find solutions that will lead to greater career satisfaction. During this workshop, participants will practice using IPAT assessments and reports within all aspects of the career development context. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Utilize the 16PF Questionnaire for career planning, career enrichment, and career transition
- Recognize and resolve personality/career mismatches
- Use personality insights to advise and coach employees, students, and career changers on viable career options
- Examine how personality affects vocational choices at various stages of one's career
- Manage performance and satisfaction problems holistically with special emphasis on the personality, needs, and values of the individual
Who Can Be Assessed with These Tools?
Established Employees; Individuals seeking career change; Students and other individuals seeking career advice
