Illinois Psychological Association Welcomes IPAT as First Organizational Member
November, 2009
The Illinois Psychological Association (IPA) recently accepted IPAT as its first organizational member. Per Dr. Steven Rothke, IPA President, "This makes us the first state psychological association to develop this type of strategic partnership."
While IPAT has a working history with many of the individual IPA members, this official recognition represents a commitment on the part of both organizations to work together to advance the field of psychology by utilizing their respective areas of expertise.
Driven by a volunteer leadership of nearly fifty people, the IPA mission is to advance psychology as a science and a profession and as a means of promoting human welfare. Through its efforts to promote the value of psychology to society, the IPA is involved in numerous activities that support the needs of individuals struggling with mental illness both in Illinois and nationally. Its staff and leadership serve on various coalitions, task forces and summits that have made significant contributions to the welfare of the mentally ill. Its public service programs, such as the Illinois Psychologically Healthy Workplace Program, contribute to the well being of workers throughout the state.
The IPA is the largest professional association of psychologists in Illinois and is affiliated with the 130,000 member American Psychological Association. |
